The short answer

As of October 2026, choose Twilio if your engineers are building WhatsApp notifications, one-time passcodes or chatbots into your own product and want a pay-as-you-go API that also covers SMS, voice and email. Choose whatsappx.si if your team mainly wants to answer WhatsApp chats together without building an interface: link the WhatsApp you already use by scanning a QR code, reply from one inbox at the same time, and add keyword-triggered auto-replies. whatsappx.si also connects official WhatsApp Business Platform numbers and has a REST API, but it is an inbox first.

The verdict

whatsappx.si or Twilio?

  • Twilio is stronger for developers and scale. Well-documented APIs, a sandbox, 80 messages per second per sender by default (text up to 400 on request), WhatsApp Flows, Business Calling, and SMS, voice and email in one platform, as of October 2026.
  • Twilio publishes transparent usage pricing. Pay-as-you-go in USD at $0.005 per WhatsApp message plus Meta’s fees, with a free trial that needs no credit card, as of October 2026.
  • Twilio’s WhatsApp API has no ready-made team inbox. As of October 2026, teams build their own interface or add Twilio Flex, priced separately. whatsappx.si is the inbox itself: search, assignment, owner/admin/agent roles, contacts and live updates in the browser.
  • whatsappx.si keeps your existing number. As of October 2026, Twilio’s docs say a number already on the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app must have that account deleted first. whatsappx.si links it by QR code as a linked device, with recent chat history synced in.
  • Both support the official WhatsApp Business Platform. whatsappx.si connects Meta numbers with Embedded Signup and syncs templates; as of October 2026, Twilio adds Self Sign-up, a Senders API and a Tech Provider Program for ISVs.
  • Neither is for bulk messaging on QR-linked numbers. On whatsappx.si those numbers use WhatsApp’s linked-device feature; high volume, templates and automation at scale belong on the official API with opted-in contacts.

Who is Twilio for?

Twilio is a communications platform (CPaaS) for engineering teams. It offers WhatsApp through the Programmable Messaging API and Conversations API, alongside SMS, voice and email, as of October 2026 (Twilio). Its docs cover the WhatsApp Business Platform, the official API, not the consumer or Business apps (Twilio Docs).

It fits companies that build WhatsApp into their own software, for example delivery updates, one-time passcodes, chatbots or a custom contact center. A sandbox lets developers prototype first, and the default 80 messages per second per sender (text up to 400 on request) supports high-volume transactional sending (Twilio Docs).

Who is whatsappx.si for?

whatsappx.si is for teams that want to answer WhatsApp together without building anything. You connect the WhatsApp you already have by scanning a QR code, and the number becomes a linked device, much like WhatsApp Web (WhatsApp Help Center), with recent chat history synced into a shared inbox. Teammates join by email invite with owner, admin or agent roles; chats can be assigned, searched and marked as read, and updates arrive live.

On top of the inbox you can add keyword-triggered auto-replies, switch them on or off and see how often each one runs, and keep a knowledge base of help articles that teammates can search by keyword to find answers. The REST API and outbound webhooks are one feature, not the product. For example, a dental clinic could link its existing number, let the front desk reply from one inbox, and let an auto-reply answer "opening hours" questions.

whatsappx.si also connects numbers through Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Platform with Embedded Signup, the route for high volume, approved templates and automation at scale.

How does pricing differ?

Twilio publishes pay-as-you-go pricing in USD. As of October 2026, Twilio charges $0.005 per WhatsApp message, inbound or outbound, and passes Meta’s per-message fees through on top; those vary by category (marketing, utility, authentication, service) and recipient country. A $0.001 fee applies to messages that end in "Failed" status, and volume discounts may apply (Twilio WhatsApp pricing). There is a free trial without a credit card and a WhatsApp Sandbox. Twilio Flex, the agent workspace, is priced separately from $1 per active user hour or $150 per named user per month, as of October 2026 (Twilio Flex pricing).

whatsappx.si offers plans for the USA and India; see the pricing page. For numbers on the official WhatsApp Business Platform, Meta bills its own fees separately: per delivered message by category and market since July 1, 2025, and since October 1, 2026, service messages are charged after 1,000 free delivered service messages per business phone number per month (Meta for Developers). QR-linked numbers do not use the Business Platform, so Meta’s API fees do not apply to them.

How do you switch from Twilio to whatsappx.si?

  1. Decide which connection you need

If your team mainly answers inbound chats, link an existing WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app number by QR code. If you send templates outside the 24-hour window or need high volume, connect a number through the official WhatsApp Business Platform with Embedded Signup.

  2. Plan the number move honestly

A WhatsApp sender on Twilio is registered to a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA). Check with Twilio and Meta before moving it; whatsappx.si cannot move it for you. You can also connect a different number, or keep Twilio for transactional sends and use whatsappx.si for conversations.

  3. Invite the team and set roles

Create a workspace, send email invites, and give teammates owner, admin or agent roles. Agents see only their assigned chats.

  4. Recreate automations and templates

Twilio Studio flows do not transfer. Rebuild simple cases as keyword-triggered auto-replies, add help articles to the knowledge base so teammates can find answers, and create templates to sync with Meta for official API numbers.

  5. Reconnect your systems

Point integrations at the whatsappx.si REST API with an API key and subscribe your backend to outbound webhooks. There are no built-in CRM integrations, so anything wired to Twilio webhooks needs the same work here.

Frequently asked questions

Is whatsappx.si a replacement for Twilio?
Only for some teams. If you use Twilio to give a support or sales team a WhatsApp inbox, whatsappx.si can replace that, with assignment, roles and auto-replies ready to use. For high-volume programmatic sending, SMS, voice, email or a custom contact center, Twilio remains the better fit, as of October 2026. You could also keep Twilio for transactional sends and use whatsappx.si for team conversations.
Can I link my existing WhatsApp number to whatsappx.si without deleting it?
Yes. whatsappx.si uses WhatsApp’s linked-device feature: you scan a QR code, much like WhatsApp Web, and recent chat history syncs into the shared inbox while the phone app keeps working. Twilio’s docs say a number already on the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app must have that account deleted before it becomes a Twilio sender, as of October 2026.
Does whatsappx.si have an API like Twilio?
whatsappx.si includes a REST API with API keys, outbound webhooks that forward incoming messages, in-app API docs and a live event stream. It is one feature of a shared inbox product, not a communications platform. As of October 2026, Twilio’s APIs are broader, cover more channels and are built for developers first, so choose Twilio if the API is what you mainly need.
How does Twilio price WhatsApp messages?
As of October 2026, Twilio charges $0.005 per WhatsApp message, inbound or outbound, and passes Meta’s per-message fees through on top. Meta’s fees depend on the message category and the recipient’s country. A $0.001 fee applies to failed messages, and Twilio Flex, its agent workspace, is priced separately. See Twilio’s pricing page for current rates.
Can I send bulk messages from a QR-linked number in whatsappx.si?
No. QR-linked numbers use WhatsApp’s linked-device feature, and WhatsApp says its products are not intended for bulk or automated messaging. Send 5–10 messages at a time, only to people who opted in. For higher volume and approved templates, connect a number through the official WhatsApp Business Platform and follow WhatsApp’s Business and Commerce Policies.
What happens if WhatsApp blocks a number I connected?
That is handled between you and Meta. whatsappx.si provides software to use WhatsApp with your team, is not affiliated with WhatsApp or Meta, is not responsible for account restrictions and cannot restore an account. Reduce the risk by using a new number normally for 15–20 days before connecting it, messaging only opted-in contacts and sending in small batches.
