In short

whatsappx.si connects an existing WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business number through WhatsApp’s linked-device feature, the same way WhatsApp Web does. You scan a QR code from your phone, recent chat history syncs into the workspace, and your team replies from one inbox. Keep your phone active, send in small batches to people who opted in, and switch to the official WhatsApp Business Platform when you need volume, templates or automation at scale.

How does connecting WhatsApp by QR code work?

Your WhatsApp account lives on one primary phone. WhatsApp lets that phone link companion devices such as WhatsApp Web, the desktop app or a tablet, usually by scanning a QR code (WhatsApp Help Center). whatsappx.si uses this same linked-device feature: your workspace becomes one of the devices linked to your phone.

Nothing about your number changes. The WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app stays on your phone with your profile, contacts and chats. You do not need a new SIM, a Meta developer account or a verification call. After the scan, recent conversations sync into the workspace and new messages arrive live. Each teammate signs in with their own email and password or Google account and gets a role (owner, admin or agent), so nobody shares the phone or a single password.

  1. Choose the QR code option in your workspace

Sign in to whatsappx.si, open your workspace and pick the option to link WhatsApp with a QR code.

  2. Scan it from your phone

In WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business, open Settings, tap Linked devices, then Link a device, and point the camera at the QR code.

  3. Wait for recent chats to sync

Recent conversations and contacts load into the shared inbox. Keep the phone online until the sync finishes.

  4. Invite your team

Send email invites with an owner, admin or agent role. Agents see only the chats assigned to them.

  5. Reply together

Open chats, answer customers, assign conversations to a colleague and keep unread counts at zero.

What syncs into the inbox after you scan?

A QR-linked number brings the context your team needs to answer well.

  • Recent chat history

Recent conversations sync in so teammates can read what was said before they reply.

  • Contacts

Contacts from WhatsApp appear in the workspace, and you can add more by hand.

  • Images and documents

Photos and files customers send show inline in the thread, no download needed.

  • New messages, live

Incoming messages appear in the inbox as they arrive, powered by a live event stream.

  • Start a chat by phone number

Type a number to open a new conversation with someone who has agreed to hear from you.

  • Keyword auto-replies

Switch on keyword-triggered automations for common questions and see how often each one runs. AI replies are coming soon and are not available yet.

Does your phone need to stay online?

Not every minute, but it must stay in use. WhatsApp says linked devices “work without your phone online, but will log out if your phone is unused for over 14 days” (WhatsApp Help Center). Open WhatsApp on the primary phone at least every two weeks and the link stays alive. If the phone is lost, wiped or left switched off for weeks, the workspace is logged out and you scan again.

A few other facts about linked devices, from WhatsApp’s own help pages:

  • Up to four linked devices at a time. That is the standard limit in WhatsApp’s Help Center, and the whatsappx.si workspace counts as one of them, alongside any WhatsApp Web, desktop or tablet sessions (About linked devices). Meta’s Business app pages describe higher limits for some multi-agent options, so check what applies to your account.
  • A linked device cannot be the primary device. The account still belongs to the phone; whatsappx.si cannot replace it.
  • Some features are phone-only. WhatsApp lists live-location viewing, broadcast-list management and WhatsApp Business Flows as unsupported on linked devices.
  • One scan per number. Teammates sign in to whatsappx.si with their own logins; they do not scan the QR code themselves.

Who is QR linking for?

It is the fastest way to start when you already have a number customers know. Examples:

  • A small shop with one WhatsApp Business number

For example, a boutique whose owner answers orders alone could let two assistants reply from the inbox without buying a second phone.

  • A clinic or service business with a front desk

For example, a dental clinic could let the reception team confirm appointments from a shared inbox while the doctor keeps the phone.

  • A sales team sharing inbound leads

For example, a real-estate office could assign each incoming enquiry to a specific agent and keep the whole thread visible to a manager.

When should you prefer the official API instead?

Choose Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API) when any of the following is true:

  1. You need to message people outside a conversation they started. On the Platform, approved template messages are the only way to reach someone outside the 24-hour customer service window (Meta documentation). whatsappx.si lets you create templates and sync them with Meta for API numbers.
  2. You expect real volume. The Platform is Meta’s sanctioned route for scale; a QR-linked number should stay at the pace of a person replying, in batches of 5–10.
  3. You want automation at scale or a verified badge. Platform numbers can request Official Business Account status, and messaging limits can scale up from an initial 250 unique users per 24 hours (Meta documentation).
  4. You do not want a phone in the loop. API numbers are not tied to a handset or the 14-day rule.

You can run both in one workspace: a QR-linked number for everyday replies plus official numbers for templates and volume. Meta bills its own per-message fees for the official API separately. To keep the same number on both, Meta offers “coexistence” for WhatsApp Business app numbers (Meta documentation).

Frequently asked questions

How many devices can I link to WhatsApp Business?
WhatsApp’s Help Center gives a standard limit of four linked devices at a time per account, and the whatsappx.si workspace counts as one of them, alongside any WhatsApp Web or desktop sessions (WhatsApp Help Center). Your teammates do not each link a device: they sign in to whatsappx.si with their own accounts and share the one connection.
Does the QR connection work if my phone is off?
Yes, for a while. WhatsApp says linked devices keep working without the phone online, but they log out if the phone is unused for more than 14 days (WhatsApp Help Center). Open WhatsApp on the primary phone at least every two weeks. If the link drops, scan the QR code again.
Can I connect a brand-new WhatsApp number?
We recommend against connecting a new number right away. Use a brand-new number normally for 15–20 days first: chat with people you know, reply to messages, join a group. Connect it to whatsappx.si only after that, then send in small batches of 5–10 messages at a time to people who opted in. A fresh number that starts sending in volume on day one can look unusual to WhatsApp and risks restriction.
Can I send bulk messages from a QR-linked number?
No. whatsappx.si has no bulk broadcast feature, and WhatsApp states that bulk and automated messaging violate its Terms of Service (WhatsApp Help Center). Reply to customers as they write in and reach out in small batches of 5–10 messages to people who agreed to hear from you. For template messaging at scale, use the official WhatsApp Business Platform.
Can my WhatsApp account be restricted for using a third-party tool?
It can be, especially if the number sends bulk or unsolicited messages. whatsappx.si uses WhatsApp’s linked-device feature and does not promise immunity from restrictions. If WhatsApp restricts or blocks a number you connect, that is between you and Meta: whatsappx.si is not responsible for account restrictions and cannot restore an account. Follow WhatsApp’s policies and keep sending conversational.
Can I use a QR-linked number and the official API together?
Yes. One workspace can hold a QR-linked number for everyday replies and one or more numbers connected through Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Platform for templates and higher volume. Meta bills its own per-message fees for API numbers separately. If you later want the same number on both, Meta offers a coexistence option for WhatsApp Business app numbers.
