Official WhatsApp Business Platform

Connect Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Platform without leaving the app

Most teams start by scanning a QR code with the WhatsApp they already have. When you want Meta’s official route for templates, more than one number or higher volume, add a number through Meta’s Cloud API using Embedded Signup inside whatsappx.si.

In short

whatsappx.si connects to Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Platform (Cloud API) through Meta Embedded Signup inside the app. You verify the phone number, add several Meta numbers to one workspace and keep your message templates in sync with Meta. Meta bills its own per-message fees separately from your whatsappx.si subscription.

What does the official platform connection give you?

The official platform is the second way to connect a number in whatsappx.si. It sits next to QR linking and feeds the same shared inbox, keyword automations and REST API.

  • Embedded Signup inside the app

Connect a WhatsApp Business Account through Meta’s own sign-in flow, shown inside whatsappx.si. No developer console or manual token copying.

  • Phone-number verification

Meta verifies the number you add with a code, so it is registered to your business on Meta’s side before any message is sent.

  • Several numbers per workspace

Add more than one Meta number to a single workspace, for example one per brand, region or department, and work them all from one inbox.

  • Templates synced with Meta

Create templates with a name, category and language, and sync with Meta so the list shows the status Meta reports. Meta reviews every template before it can be sent.

  • Meta credentials encrypted at rest

The Meta credentials from the signup flow are encrypted at rest and kept separate for each workspace.

  • Same team tools as QR numbers

Shared inbox, assignment, roles, keyword auto-replies, API keys and webhooks work the same for official numbers. AI replies are coming soon.

How is the official platform different from a QR-linked number?

The WhatsApp Business Platform is Meta’s offering for medium and large businesses that message customers at scale through programmatic access, using the Meta-hosted Cloud API. The WhatsApp Business app is a free phone app for small businesses with limited integration (WhatsApp Business FAQ).

A QR-linked number in whatsappx.si uses WhatsApp’s linked-device feature, like WhatsApp Web: the account still lives on a phone, up to four devices can be linked at a time, and linked devices log out if the phone is unused for more than 14 days (WhatsApp help).

An official platform number differs in ways that matter for a team:

  • No phone in the loop. The number is registered with Meta’s Cloud API, so there is no primary phone to keep online and no linked-device cap.
  • Message templates. Outside a customer service window, templates are the only message type a business can send. The window is a 24-hour timer that starts when a customer messages you and resets each time they do (Meta documentation).
  • Messaging limits and quality rating. Meta caps how many unique users a business portfolio can message outside the window in a moving 24-hour period; new portfolios start at 250 and can scale up (Meta documentation). Each number also carries a quality rating based on feedback such as blocks and reports (Meta Business Help).
  • Official Business Account badge. Platform numbers can apply for the blue checkmark after meeting Meta’s requirements, including Business Verification and at least 30 days on the platform (Meta documentation).

Both connection types land in the same shared inbox, so a team can start with a QR-linked number today and add official numbers later.

How do you connect a number through Embedded Signup?

  1. Open Workspace settings

As a workspace admin, open Workspace settings, add a number and choose Meta Embedded Signup instead of scanning a QR code.

  2. Sign in to Meta inside the app

Meta Embedded Signup opens in whatsappx.si. Sign in with the Facebook account that manages your business portfolio and follow Meta’s steps.

  3. Choose an account and verify the number

Pick the business portfolio and WhatsApp Business Account, then verify the number with the code Meta sends by SMS or voice call.

  4. Add a payment method with Meta

Meta bills its messaging fees separately, so add a payment method in Meta’s WhatsApp Manager before live messaging. whatsappx.si does not collect these fees.

  5. Create and sync templates

Add templates with a name, category and language, then sync with Meta to see the review status Meta reports for each one.

How do message templates work with Meta?

A message template is a pre-built message stored in your WhatsApp Business Account. Meta reviews each template before it can be sent, and review can take up to 24 hours (Meta documentation).

Templates fall into three categories, each priced differently by Meta: marketing, utility and authentication. Utility templates must be non-promotional and specific to, or requested by, the customer, such as an order update or appointment reminder. Only authentication templates may carry one-time passcodes (Meta documentation).

In whatsappx.si you create a template with its name, category and language, and sync your templates with Meta. The template list shows the status Meta reports back, so your team can see which templates are approved. For example, a clinic could draft a utility template for appointment reminders, check in whatsappx.si when Meta has approved it, and keep using free-form replies inside the 24-hour window for everyday questions.

Who bills you for official-platform messages?

Two separate parties. Meta bills the per-message fees to the payment method on your business portfolio. whatsappx.si bills your software subscription, which never includes Meta’s messaging fees.

Two regional points matter. In India, Meta launched INR billing on January 1, 2026; businesses whose Sold-To country is India must migrate every WhatsApp Business Account in their portfolio to INR by December 31, 2026, or Meta will stop delivering their messages from January 1, 2027. In every market, Meta offers lower utility and authentication rates at higher monthly volume, and opens a free entry point window when a customer arrives from a Click-to-WhatsApp ad (Meta documentation).

Because rates change and vary by market, whatsappx.si does not publish Meta’s numbers. Check Meta’s rate cards and your Meta billing dashboard for what you actually pay.

When should you choose the official platform over QR linking?

Choose the official WhatsApp Business Platform when you need Meta’s sanctioned route for higher volume, want approved message templates (Meta’s only way to reach customers outside the 24-hour window), run several numbers in one workspace without keeping several phones online, connect your own systems through the whatsappx.si REST API and webhooks, or want a path to the Official Business Account badge.

Stay with a QR-linked number when you want to keep the number you already use with its recent chat history, your volume is conversational (mostly replies to people who message you first), or you are getting started and want the team in one inbox today.

Whichever route you take, treat the number carefully. If you create a brand-new WhatsApp number for QR linking, use it normally from your phone for 15–20 days before you connect it. Send in small batches of 5–10 messages at a time, never bulk blasts, and only to people who have agreed to hear from you. WhatsApp’s terms prohibit bulk and automated messaging, and WhatsApp may restrict or block a number that breaks them (WhatsApp help). The official platform is Meta’s sanctioned route for higher volume and templates, but its messaging limits, quality rating and Business Messaging Policy still apply.

Frequently asked questions

Is the WhatsApp Business API free?
No. Meta charges per delivered message on the WhatsApp Business Platform, with rates that depend on the message category and the recipient’s market. Messages from customers to you are free, and each business number has a monthly free tier of 1,000 delivered service messages. Meta bills these fees separately from your whatsappx.si subscription, so check Meta’s rate cards for your market.
What is the difference between the WhatsApp Business app and the WhatsApp Business Platform?
The WhatsApp Business app is a free phone app for small businesses with built-in tools and limited integration. The WhatsApp Business Platform gives medium and large businesses programmatic access through Meta’s Cloud API, with approved templates, messaging limits, quality ratings and per-message pricing. whatsappx.si connects to either: the app by QR code, the platform by Embedded Signup.
Can I use the WhatsApp Business app and the API on the same number?
Meta offers a coexistence option through Embedded Signup that keeps the WhatsApp Business app on the phone while a partner app uses Cloud API, with limits such as fixed throughput and disabled broadcast lists. Eligibility is decided by Meta. In whatsappx.si you can link your app number by QR code today and add a separate official number through Embedded Signup when you need templates.
Do I need a developer to connect the official platform?
No. Meta Embedded Signup runs inside whatsappx.si, so an owner or admin signs in to Meta, picks the business portfolio and WhatsApp Business Account, verifies the number and adds a payment method with Meta. There are no tokens to copy and no Meta developer console to configure. Developers can still use the whatsappx.si REST API and webhooks on top.
Which number can I use for the official platform?
Use a number your business controls that can receive Meta’s verification code by SMS or voice call. Meta sets the eligibility rules and shows them during Embedded Signup, including what to do if the number is already active on the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app. Once verified, the number is registered to your WhatsApp Business Account on Meta’s side rather than to a phone.
What happens if Meta restricts an official number?
Meta enforces its Business Messaging Policy, messaging limits and quality ratings directly on the WhatsApp Business Account. If a number is restricted or blocked, you resolve it with Meta through your business portfolio. whatsappx.si is not affiliated with Meta, is not responsible for account restrictions and cannot restore an account, so keep messaging opt-in and send in small batches.
