What Is an Official Business Account?

Also called: WhatsApp blue checkmark, WhatsApp blue tick, Verified business accountUpdated

Official Business Account (OBA)
An Official Business Account (OBA) is a WhatsApp Business Platform phone number that Meta has verified as belonging to an authentic business, shown with a blue checkmark beside its name. Requirements include Business Verification, two-step verification, an approved display name and at least 30 days on the platform.

What does the blue checkmark mean?

The blue checkmark tells WhatsApp users that Meta has confirmed the business behind a phone number is who it says it is. It is granted only to numbers on the WhatsApp Business Platform (the official API), not to numbers that run in the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business phone apps (Meta documentation).

Status matters for discovery as well as trust: according to Meta, a number without OBA status does not appear when users search for it inside WhatsApp.

What are the requirements for an Official Business Account?

Meta lists these conditions for OBA status (Meta documentation):

RequirementWhat it means
Business Messaging Policy complianceYour messaging must follow WhatsApp's business policies
30+ days on the platformThe number has been active on the WhatsApp Business Platform for at least 30 days
Business VerificationMeta has verified your business through its business tools
Two-step verificationThe number has two-step verification enabled
Approved display nameThe name shown to customers has been approved by Meta

Meeting the requirements lets you request OBA status; Meta makes the final decision.

How do you get an Official Business Account?

  1. Connect a number to the WhatsApp Business Platform. In whatsappx.si you can do this with Meta Embedded Signup inside the app and verify the phone number.
  2. Complete Business Verification with Meta and turn on two-step verification for the number.
  3. Get your display name approved by Meta.
  4. Use the number normally for at least 30 days while following WhatsApp's Business and Commerce Policies.
  5. Request OBA status from Meta once every requirement is met.

whatsappx.si does not grant, speed up or guarantee OBA status. Approval is Meta's decision alone.

Is an Official Business Account the same as Meta Verified?

No. OBA is for numbers on the WhatsApp Business Platform. Businesses that use the WhatsApp Business phone app can instead subscribe to Meta Verified for a verified badge (Meta). The two programs have different requirements, so check which one applies to the way your number is connected.

Can a QR-linked number get the blue checkmark?

Not through OBA. whatsappx.si connects WhatsApp two ways: by scanning a QR code to link the WhatsApp you already have (WhatsApp's linked-device feature), or through Meta's official WhatsApp Business Platform. OBA applies only to the second route. If a blue checkmark is important to you, connect the number through the platform and work towards the requirements above.

Whichever route you use, protect the number. A brand-new WhatsApp number should be used normally for 15–20 days before you connect it. Send 5–10 messages at a time, never bulk blasts, and only message people who opted in. WhatsApp says its products are not intended for bulk or automated messaging and may restrict or block numbers that break its terms (WhatsApp Help Center).

What does OBA status unlock?

Beyond the checkmark and search visibility, some platform capabilities depend on it. For example, Meta's Groups API requires an Official Business Account and is not available for WhatsApp Business app phone numbers (Meta documentation). Capabilities and requirements change, so confirm the current rules in Meta's documentation before planning around them.

Frequently asked questions

How do I get the blue tick on WhatsApp Business?
Connect your number to the WhatsApp Business Platform, complete Meta Business Verification, enable two-step verification, get your display name approved and keep the number active and policy-compliant for at least 30 days. Then request Official Business Account status from Meta. Meta reviews the request and decides; no software provider, including whatsappx.si, can grant the checkmark.
Can I get verified if I only use the WhatsApp Business app?
Official Business Account status is only for numbers on the WhatsApp Business Platform. If you use the WhatsApp Business phone app, Meta offers a separate Meta Verified subscription that shows a verified badge. In whatsappx.si you can keep your app number linked by QR code and add a platform number later if you want to pursue OBA status.
Does whatsappx.si give my number a blue checkmark?
No. whatsappx.si is a shared inbox for your team and is independent of WhatsApp and Meta. It lets you connect a number through Meta Embedded Signup and manage templates for the official platform, but Business Verification, display-name approval and the OBA decision all happen with Meta. We cannot promise, speed up or appeal an outcome on your behalf.
Can a verified number still be restricted or blocked?
Yes. The checkmark confirms your identity; it does not exempt you from WhatsApp's policies. Numbers that send bulk or unsolicited messages can still be restricted or blocked. If that happens to a number you connect to whatsappx.si, it is handled between you and Meta: whatsappx.si is not affiliated with Meta, is not responsible for restrictions and cannot restore an account. Send in small batches of 5–10 messages and only to people who opted in.
