What Is a Business Solution Provider (BSP)?

Also called: WhatsApp BSP, Solution Partner, WhatsApp Business Service ProviderUpdated
On this page
Business Solution Provider (BSP)
A Business Solution Provider (BSP) is the common name for what Meta now calls a Solution Partner: a Meta Business Partner that provides WhatsApp Business Platform services to client businesses, including messaging, billing, integration and customer support. Solution Partners can extend credit lines to clients and invoice them directly.

What does a BSP actually do?

A BSP sits between a business and Meta’s WhatsApp Business Platform. Meta describes Solution Partners as Meta Business Partners that “provide a full range of WhatsApp Business Platform services to other businesses (clients), such as messaging services, billing, integration support, and customer support” (Meta documentation). The older name “Business Solution Provider” is still widely used in marketing copy, especially in India, even though Meta’s documentation now says Solution Partner.

In practice a BSP usually offers:

  • Onboarding to a WhatsApp Business Account (WABA) and phone-number registration.
  • Messaging through the Cloud API, including help with message templates and approvals.
  • Billing: a Solution Partner can extend a credit line and invoice the client for Meta’s per-message fees, often bundled with its own software fee.
  • Support and integration: help connecting the API to an inbox, CRM or custom software.

How is a Solution Partner different from a Tech Provider?

Meta distinguishes two kinds of partner. A Tech Provider offers WhatsApp Business Platform services to other businesses in much the same way as a Solution Partner, but without credit lines: its clients add their own payment method with Meta after onboarding (Meta documentation).

For a business, the main practical difference is billing: whether Meta’s messaging charges appear on the partner’s invoice or on the business’s own Meta account.

Do you need a BSP to use the WhatsApp Business Platform?

No. Businesses can get the platform directly from Meta or through partners: Solution Partners and Tech Providers (Meta documentation). The three routes look like this:

RouteWhat you set upWho bills Meta’s fees
Directly with MetaA Meta developer app, WABA and your own code or softwareMeta, to your payment method
Through a Tech Provider’s softwareOnboarding inside the partner’s app; you add your own payment method with MetaMeta, to your payment method
Through a Solution Partner (BSP)Onboarding handled by the partner, which can extend a credit lineThe partner invoices you

Whichever route you choose, the same Meta rules apply. Outside the 24-hour customer service window, only approved templates can be sent (Meta documentation). Messaging limits cap how many unique users you can reach outside that window in a moving 24-hour period, starting at 250 for new business portfolios (Meta documentation). And Meta charges per delivered message, by category and recipient market (Meta pricing).

Which WhatsApp tools describe themselves as BSPs?

As of October 2026, several WhatsApp tools say on their own sites that they are official partners. AiSensy, Interakt and Gallabox describe themselves as official WhatsApp Business Solution Providers, respond.io describes itself as an official WhatsApp Business Service Provider and shows a Meta Business Partner badge, and Gupshup calls itself one of Meta’s largest Solution Partners (see sources).

How they pass on Meta’s fees differs. As of October 2026, respond.io and Gupshup take WhatsApp fees from a prepaid balance, and Gallabox bills them with its own markup on top of Meta’s fees. These partners are stronger where you want official Meta partner standing and one vendor to handle Meta onboarding and billing for you, and some offer features whatsappx.si does not, such as broadcasts and workflow builders on respond.io.

How does whatsappx.si fit in?

whatsappx.si is a shared WhatsApp inbox for teams, not a BSP and not a reseller of Meta’s platform. Most teams start by scanning a QR code with the WhatsApp or WhatsApp Business app number they already have. The number becomes a linked device through WhatsApp’s linked-device feature, and the whole team replies from one inbox, assigns chats and sets up keyword-triggered auto-replies. AI-written replies to customers are coming soon; they are not available yet.

For high volume, approved message templates and automation at scale, we recommend adding a number through Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Platform, which you can do with Meta Embedded Signup inside the app. Meta charges its own messaging fees for those numbers, billed separately by Meta and not part of a whatsappx.si plan. whatsappx.si does not resell Meta’s messaging, invoice Meta’s fees or extend credit lines. A REST API and outbound webhooks are also available if you want to connect your own systems.

Frequently asked questions

Is BSP the same as Solution Partner?
Yes, in everyday use. “Business Solution Provider” is the older name that many vendors and customers still use, while Meta’s current documentation calls the same role a Solution Partner: a Meta Business Partner that provides WhatsApp Business Platform services such as messaging, billing, integration support and customer support to client businesses, and that can extend credit lines and invoice them directly.
Can I use the WhatsApp Business Platform without a BSP?
Yes. Meta’s documentation says businesses can get the platform directly from Meta or through partners, Solution Partners and Tech Providers. Going direct means managing a Meta developer app and your own integration. Software such as whatsappx.si lets you connect an official number with Meta Embedded Signup and use it in a shared team inbox, while Meta bills its messaging fees separately.
Does a BSP make my WhatsApp messages cheaper?
Not by default. Meta charges per delivered message by category and market, and lower utility and authentication rates come from Meta’s volume tiers, not from the partner you use. A BSP may add its own fee or markup, pass Meta’s rates through, or offer a credit line. Always compare the partner’s software fee and billing terms with Meta’s published pricing before choosing.
Is whatsappx.si a BSP?
No. whatsappx.si is a shared WhatsApp inbox for teams. You scan a QR code to link the WhatsApp number you already have, and you can also connect numbers through Meta’s official WhatsApp Business Platform with Meta Embedded Signup inside the app. Meta bills its messaging fees for official numbers separately, and whatsappx.si does not resell, invoice or extend credit for Meta’s charges.
What should I check before signing up with a BSP?
Check whether the partner is listed as a Meta Business Partner, how it bills Meta’s per-message fees (markup, pass-through or prepaid balance), whether you can keep your phone number and WhatsApp Business Account if you leave, which features are add-ons, and whether it supports coexistence with the WhatsApp Business app. Also confirm the partner follows WhatsApp’s Business Messaging Policy on opt-in.
